Aftere User Agreement (Terms of Service)

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Aftere Team ("Aftere", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the Aftere mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility (17+)

The Service is intended for users aged 17 and older. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 17 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

The Service and AI Mentors

Aftere is an AI chat app focused on humanistic guidance and thoughtful conversation. The Service provides AI-generated responses and may offer mentors with different personalities and perspectives.

AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation. You are responsible for how you use the Service and any decisions you make.

Not Professional Advice; Emergencies

The Service is for informational and conversational purposes only and does not provide medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

Do not use the Service for emergencies. If you think you may be in danger or have an emergency, call local emergency services immediately.

Accounts

Registration information: You may need an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information (name, username, email) and keep it updated.
Account security: You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
Termination: You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations or to protect the Service.

Your Content

User Content: Messages, prompts, and support requests you submit.
License: You grant Aftere a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, and display User Content solely to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, provide support, and enforce these Terms, subject to our Privacy Policy.
Your responsibility: You are responsible for your content and represent you have rights to submit it and that it does not violate law or these Terms.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service in a way that violates any law or regulation.
Submit content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, violent, sexually exploitative, or that violates the rights of others.
Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, disrupt, overload, or bypass security or access controls.
Use the Service to create or distribute malware, spam, or automated abusive traffic.
Misrepresent the Service, the AI mentors, or your affiliation with any person or organization.

We may remove content or restrict access where necessary to enforce these Terms or protect the Service.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use information. By using the Service, you agree that we can process information as described in the Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Aftere or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service.

Third-Party Services and the App Store

The Service may rely on third-party services (for example, hosting, analytics, and crash reporting). Your use of third-party services may be subject to their terms.

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store:

Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.
To the extent Apple is required to provide a refund under applicable law, Apple will be responsible for that refund.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Terms against you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aftere will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Aftere's total liability will not exceed the amount you paid to Aftere for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $50 if you paid nothing.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Aftere from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

Governing Law; Binding Arbitration

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Aftere Team is principally established, excluding its conflict of laws rules, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Except where prohibited by law, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You and Aftere waive any right to a jury trial.

If arbitration is not permitted for a particular claim, the claim will be brought in the competent courts located in the jurisdiction in which Aftere Team is principally established, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the Effective Date above when changes become effective. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
